Marte and Espen live in a very special place—with very special weather. Ålesund, Norway, is known for its beautiful Art Nouveau buildings and stylish old town—but equally for its rainy and stormy days. Located at 63 degrees north, the region is exposed to North Atlantic storms almost completely unchecked. So why should their wedding day be any different?

The plan was a two-hour couple’s photoshoot in Ålesund before heading to the church for the ceremony. Did I mention that the wedding took place on November 30th? That brought the next challenge—on that day, we only had about three hours of usable daylight.

With high spirits, a rain cover for the camera, and two umbrellas for the bride and groom, we made our way through the city. Between gusts of wind and rain showers, we used the streets—which were luckily quite empty at that time—for our shoot. The results are right here: real emotions, wild hair, shining eyes—and plenty of Nordic weather luck.
