Ina and Konstantin celebrated their wedding in a private ceremony in the mountains of Oberstdorf. Authentic, genuine, and emotional – captured by Matthias Wendling Photography.

Ina & Konstantin - Oberstdorf, Germany

An elopement for two in the mountains of Oberstdorf. An intimate mountain wedding.

Ina and Konstantin decided to celebrate their wedding just the two of them. What was often a makeshift solution during the pandemic has now become a very deliberate choice for many couples – a so-called "elopement": an intimate wedding just for themselves, in a place that connects them.

For Ina and Konstantin, that place was the mountains around Oberstdorf. The two of them regularly spend their holidays in the Allgäu, so the idea of getting married here was a natural fit.

The civil ceremony took place in the beautiful Blue Salon – one of the ten most stunning registry offices in Germany. Along with the local heritage museum, I have had the privilege of accompanying many weddings here – and yet, every single one is unique.

Afterward, we headed to the Moorweiher for the couple’s photoshoot, a dreamlike location with a breathtaking mountain view. We swapped the elegant wedding shoes for mountain boots – and, of course, an umbrella made an appearance. But Ina and Konstantin didn't let that bother them. They were simply themselves: in love, authentic, and full of joy.

One of my all-time favorite photos – which is now the cover image of my homepage – was captured that day. A moment between two people, unposed, natural, "imperfect" – and for that very reason, perfect, because it is real.

Dear Ina, dear Konstantin – thank you for your trust and for allowing me to accompany you, even on such a demanding and weather-beaten day. I wish you all the best for your journey together!
