Elopement in Norway – Intimate mountain wedding in a DNT cabin

Sarah and Sven are a German-Norwegian couple whom I had the pleasure of photographing during my time in Norway. Right from our first conversation, the two of them said:

"We’re planning something special. Are you fit enough for a hike?"

"Sure!" I replied. "Where exactly are we going?"

"We want to get married in a DNT cabin (similar to Alpine Club huts in Germany) in the middle of the forest—it will be the first wedding ever held there! Even the registrar is coming on foot!"

This small elopement in Norway was definitely a highlight for me. Since it was April and there was still a lot of snow, the path to the cabin became particularly exciting. We pushed the stroller at first, but later strapped small skis underneath to get it across the snowfields. In total, we were seven people: the bride and groom, two guests, the registrar, their young son—and me.

This created an intimate, very personal atmosphere in the heart of the Norwegian wilderness. We spent the afternoon with coffee and cake (including, of course, the traditional Norwegian Kransekake), various photo sessions, and the ceremony itself. A small circle—with a big impact.

Afterward, both the local newspaper and the DNT magazine reported on this unique mountain wedding, as it was the first of its kind at this particular cabin.

This wedding proved once again: whether large or small—your day becomes truly special when you design it exactly the way it suits you.

Thank you, Sarah and Sven, for letting me capture your day!
